This story started off alright but deteriorated into yet another story of glorifying killing animals. Does it make it any better to kill “gently’ or with appreciation. What this pastor did is akin to a cult sacrifice. The pastor should check his bible. It says,”Thou shalt not kill.” It does not have any exemptions. At least not in my bible. Maybe he prays to a different God, a God that has no mercy.

Lane, I didn’t think those who believed in not killing animals would appreciate this story. But for those of us who believe animals were given to us for our use, I believe we should be thankful for their lives and use them respectfully.
I’m not asking you to agree with me, just sharing a story I personally found inspiring.

I think this is a very respectful way of being thankful.
The 10 Commandments did not in any way involve man’s relationship to the animals man was given to eat as food. The 10 Commandments were part of the Mosaic covenant … a way to teach men how to deal with each other in accordance with the Father’s will.
After the flood, in Genesis 9:3 the Bible says:
“Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.”
Most likely Jessica’s father is aware of this scripture and is receiving this animal with thankfulness.
Genesis 9:6 goes on to discuss the relationship of man to man… “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.”
Animals were not made in the image of God. We were given dominion over them before the flood. We were given the permission to eat them after the flood.
