I think the beauty of the-next-right-thing approach is that it keeps you in the present and it keeps you active. It's harder to feel powerless when you are doing something and it is something you deliberately decided to do. So much of life is out of our control. We can do everything right and things can still go wrong. By staying in the here and now and doing what can be done here and now we give ourselves the stability that comes from exercising what power we do have.

Might also be that the next right thing is what you have already been doing, like de-cluttering. Good if you must sell, good to live in. Win, win.
I am glad that in this, you have found an unclenched moment.
